Earlier this month the Healey-Driscoll administration released ReiMAgine Aging 2030: The Massachusetts Plan, an update to the 2019 plan for age- and dementia-friendly work in the state. Informed by community and stakeholder listening sessions, the plan identifies six goals and articulates a shared vision for the wellbeing of older adults in Massachusetts. “This plan is a fantastic resource for our municipalities and regional agencies to refer to when applying for age-friendly grants,” said Robin Lipson, Aging and Independence Secretary.
The Governor also signed an executive order instructing state offices to identify opportunities to embed age-friendly practices in their work. Included in the executive order is the development of an Age-Friendly Policies and Practices Advisory Group to continue advocating for the needs of older adults in the state.
Massachusetts has been recognized nationally for its leadership in age-friendly policy and practices.
